.STEP: 1 NOTIFY YOUR COMMAND/NOTIFICATION TO NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE (NSW) COMMAND

  1. Your chain of command IS NOT responsible for determining your eligibility
  2. You chain of command must be notified before you proceed
  3. Notify you command by submitting a Special Request Chit

.STEP 2: NOTIFY YOUR CAREER COUNSELOR

Your career counselor will verify that you meet the requirements for the SWCC rating and submit your SWCC application package to the SEAL Community Manager. Considerations are made every quarter. Your career counselor will also get your NAVPERS 1306-7 "Navy Personnel Action" initiated and completed.

.STEP 3: SCHEDULE A FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW

The interview is to screen you for a rating conversion. Contact the SEAL + SWCC Scout Team to be put you in touch with the right interviewer. A list of interview questions can be found in the MILPERSMAN 1220-400 Special Warfare Boat Operator (SB) See "Exhibit 2 Report of SB Rating Conversion Screening".

.STEP 4: SCHEDULE AND PASS AN OFFICIAL NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST

Schedule your official Physical Screening Test (PST) with the SEAL + SWCC Scout Team. When you pass your PST the SEAL + SWCC Scout Team will give you a "Page 13" a.k.a MILPERSMAN 1220-400. The "Page 13" designates that their has been a change in your service record. The "Page 13" must be included with your SWCC application package.

If you don't show up for your PST as scheduled, or if you fail the PST, you're disqualified from taking the test again for 45 days.

.STEP 5: APPLY IF YOU PASS THE NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST

 You'll need to complete the following medical documents for your SWCC package:

  1. Dive physical
  2. Signed/completed: DD 2807-1 (Report of Medical History)
  3. Signed/completed: DD 2808 (Report of Medical Examination)
  4. Signed/completed: NAVPERS 1200-6 (U.S. Military Diving Medical Screening Questionaire)
  5. Signed/completed: NAVPERS 1306-7 "Navy Personnel Action" - Initiated by your career counselor

Submit the following to your detailer:

Note: The SF-88 is no longer needed. The NAVPERS 1306/92 is only needed after selection to BCT.

  1. ASVAB Certification Form (Found in your "Electronic Service Record")
  2. Dive Physical documents (Comprised of the following forms: DD 2807-1, DD 2808, NAVPERS 1200-6)
  3. Last three evaluations
  4. Signed/completed: NAVPERS 1306-7 "Navy Personnel Action" - Initiated by your career counselor
  5. Signed/completed: Physical Screening Test (Obtained from the SEAL + SWCC Scout Team)

All packages will be submitted via your Command Career Counselor and the SEA-WAY system for consideration by the SEAL Community Manager. You must meet all rating conversion entry requirements.

.STEP 6: PREPARE FOR THE NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE PREPARATORY SCHOOL

If your package is approved, you'll receive orders to go to the Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School (NSW Prep) in Great Lakes, Illinois. Within 30 days of departing for NSW Prep you must take and pass a PST. Schedule your PST with the SEAL + SWCC Scout Team. Fail the PST and your Naval Special Warfare orders will be cancelled.
