Navy SEALs are physically fit, mentally sharp, mature and resilient. Those men who want to become a Navy SEAL Officer are screened to determine their potential to succeed in the community. In addition to meeting the basic requirements for commissioning in the Navy, candidates interested in becoming SEALs must meet rigorous physical and mental requirements.

The physical fitness of a potential candidate is assessed using:

- Physical Screening Test (PST)

PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST: ADMINISTERED BY NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE

To qualify for a commission, a prospective candidate must meet the minimum requirements. The qualifying PST must be administered by a Naval Special Warfare coordinator or mentor. To receive orders to BUD/s, a candidate must pass the PST, submit an officer package through a Navy Officer recruiter either at the Naval Academy, Navy NROTC college or at your local Navy Recruiting District. The PST consists of:

PHYSICAL SCREENING TEST MINIMUM OPTIMUM

Enter your most recent Physical Screening Test (PST) scores. Using the PST Calculator. PST scores are used to determine the fitness of people who want to become Navy SEALs. Take a look at the Minimum required scores and Optimum scores below. Reaching the Minimum (scored in the PST Calculator as 1282) or less is enough to begin training with a Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Mentor in your area, but not enough to earn a SEAL contract and enter the Navy as a SEAL candidate. A candidate who reaches or exceeds the Optimum (scored in the PST Calculator as 827) or less, is much more likely to earn a SEAL contract.
