CORONADO: HOME TO THE NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE CENTER AND BASIC CREWMAN TRAINING
Home of Special Boat Team 12. SBT-12 is the West Coast coastal team that does most of its training and missions on the MKV ( Mark Five ) and the 11 Meter Rigid-hull Inflatable Boat ( RIB ). The MKV is a medium-range insertion and extraction platform for SEALs and other Special Operations Forces in low- to medium-threat environments.
Its secondary mission is limited coastal patrol and interdiction. The RIB is a high speed, high buoyancy, extreme weather craft with the primary mission of insertion and extraction of SEAL teams from enemy beaches.
LITTLE CREEK: HOME TO NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE GROUP FOUR
located between Norfolk and Virginia Beach and is home to Naval Special Warfare Group Four, the parent command of all the Special Boat Teams, and Special Boat Team 20. SBT-20 is the East Coast coastal team. Most of this Teams training is done from the RIB, with emphasis on Maritime Craft Air Delivery System ( MCADS ), which involves parachuting a boat from a plane.
STENNIS: HOME OF SPECIAL OPERATIONS CRAFT-RIVERINE
Home to Special Boat Team 22. SBT-22 is the Navy's only Special Operations Riverine team. Their training is done on the Special Operations Craft-Riverine ( SOC-R ), which is a high-speed boat with ample weapons and equipment capacity. This boat has the ability to operate in waterways that are located well inland. The capacity of the boat allows for overwhelming firepower.
