  • Hoo-ya hey, did you swim today?

    Here we go!!
    Did a run (2 mi.) - swim (500 yds) - run (2 mi) today.
500 yards, no fins, alternating 25 yards of breast stroke and my own pathetic version of combat swimmer's side stroke, 16:34. First time I ever swam with real focus and gotta say even if I am slow for now, it was a great experience to have that kind of focus in the water. On this end, very motivated to get back in the water!

Good day today - strength training, run, swim, and run under the sun!

Swam 10 sets of 100 yard intervals, breast stroke and combat swimmer's side stroke, with 5 push-ups and 10 sit-ups after each set. Would've liked to have seen sets of 10 push-ups outta myself, but I think the earlier strength training session I did kinda put the bite on me. Nonetheless, a very good day! Really enjoying the swim training now!

Re: Hoo-ya hey, did you swim today?!

Just to throw this out there, I recently picked up a book about freestyle swimming. By applying some of the basics and physics of swimming gone over in the book, I was able to lop off a significant chunk of time from my CSS while doing the swim with less effort. I'd reccomend reading up and/or studying youtube videos of swimmers for people whose mentality is to try to learn by doing, as they can teach you all the right things to think about and focus on while swimming.

3400 yards! Is that all at once non stop?

Well I did 700 yards without fins then 1000 with fins
My fastest 500 yard time is 903

Ha no, not at once. it was the accumulated yardage of a series of sets

Doesn't the PTG call for building up to 3500 yards?

My assumption is that this would be without stopping but I could be wrong here.
