  • Anaphylaxis Waiver

Hello, I have tried several times now to join the service, once for the Army, twice for the Marine Corps, and both times I have been dropped due to an anaphylactic reaction I had when I was 9yrs old. According to the DoD Medical Standard as long as I was under 12yrs old (which I was) when it happened I should be good to go. But all 3 times I was dropped, 2 of which were after I was told I would be waivered. I have family in the Navy who told me to try for the branch, so I was wondering if I have any chance with a Navy recruiter as a potential SEAL. Or, am I just out of luck with joining any branch as is? My PFT scores and ASVAB scores were fine for all of them at the time (so I know that's not it).

Why are you openly telling recruiters you had an allergic reaction to something before you even hit puberty? What prompted the reaction?
