  • Question about the MANMED Change 164 document

While reading through the document, I noticed that it listed separate requirements for the Dive Duty Examinations and Standards, and the Naval Special Warfare Ones. Would the Dive Duty section still pertain to NSW Candidates? Or is that specifically for another thing? For example, under the Dive Duty one, it states that "History of inner ear barotrauma is disqualifying". But it does not state that it is disqualifying under the NSW section. Does this mean that if an individual were to have a case of ear barotrauma in the past, they could still be eligible to become an SO/SB, or would that disqualify the individual still?

Diving duty is part of the gig, and you must pass the standards for a dive physical. That said, if it says "disqualifying" then you may apply for a waiver.
